Course Content

In order to reach our climate targets and commitments, hydrogen is considered as one of the key elements in the energy transition. In this one day introduction course, participants will learn about the various way to produce hydrogen; its distribution and storage possibilities and its impact on our energy grid. In a series of theoretical lectures, the applications for the end users are examined as well as its various possibilities. To finalise the course, the theoretical knowledge will be put into practice in a series of challenging games, where you will be challenged to produce Hydrogen offshore and transport it to various end-users.

This course and its material are written and given entirely in English, however if all participants are Dutch, it is possible to give the lectures in Dutch.

Guest Lectures

Andrea Ramirez (TU Delft) on the impact of Hydrogen as an energy carrier. Theo Fens (TU Delft) guides us through the hydrogen value chain.

Target Audience

This course is designed for junior Engineers and those affiliated with hydrogen or renewable energy in general, but offshore energy in particular.

Learning Objectives

  • Obtaining an overview of the production of hydrogen (blue, green and grey), its distribution and storage
  • Gaining insight into various aspects of the use of hydrogen as an energy source and its impact on the end-user
  • Understanding key issues in the use of hydrogen

Hybrid Set-Up

At DOB-Academy we offer several ways to participate in our training courses. All of our regular training courses will have the hybrid set-up. This means that part of the participants can join us in Delft whereas others can participate online via Zoom. This enables each participants to join the training course how he/she is comfortable with. At DOB-Academy all measures are in place to ensure we meet the current COVID-19 regulations

Programme

The day will start with the question why hydrogen may be considered as a possible energy carrier as well as its role within the energy transition. Participants will be invited to produce some hydrogen. This will be followed by a lecture on the impact of hydrogen as an energy carrier , both in an economical sense as well as societal. A lecture from the industry will bring insight into the process and the consumption. In a hands-on case, participants will be challenged with the production and transportation from an offshore facility to various users. A guest lecture on the impact of the end-user will be the final theoretical lecture before the participants are set the task to present their project.

Online version

Are you interested in an online version of this Wind Basics training course? There are two modules to follow:

  1. The Hydrogen Value Chain
  2. Hydrogen End-use Application

Togheter these two modules are equivalent to the regular (Physical) Introduction to Hydrogen training course.

This course has been developed in joint co-operation by Frames, Energy Delta Institute and DOB Academy.
